I have a subscription to threads magazine and I love the thought of bringing couture details to crafts. This month they had a tutorial on notched tucks which I thought looked really cool. Here’s my last, and I think successful attempt to copy the technique using linen.
The above sample is the sewn method as shown in the tutorial but I tried another technique which involved fabric glue below.
I also thought about trying this technique with colour so I sewed together a bunch of jelly roll strips to create a gradient.
The plan is to make zippy pouches with these though it took me longer than expected because of all the pleating. What do you think?

I think the pleats are beautiful, adding depth and interest. Love the colours you’ve used too
Thank you!!
I love the second attempt. It looks like a desert scene.
Thanks Candy, I like it too, maybe it’ll become a cushion cover? Or maybe it’ll go into the experimental drawer to be resurrected at some other time.
I agree with Candy. It looks like something you would see in New Mexico. Very pretty!!!!
I like it too Pamela but Navajo isn’t my style. ;D
Those are crazy!! You do such amazingly detailed work. I envy your precision.
I need another sewing date with you!
Yeah but that precision TAKES.FOREVER.!!
They look amazing, you have been very busy with your time off. You look like you have been emptying out all your fabric stashes over the last couple of weeks. Now you are going to have fun finding places for all you great projects you did.
LOL, my fabric stash hardly has a dent yet. If only they’d sell on Etsy, I’d be a happy camper!
What a great idea, so clean and effective, especially for showing off the gradient fabrics.. love..
Thanks Mel!

Love this idea. The gradient one is particularly cool.
I like the gradient idea but this one is too Navajo for my taste. ;D
