Juki TL-2000 Qi for sale

First I want to thank everyone who commented on my post yesterday, I am overwhelmed with your kind wishes and encouragement! I am very sad to inform you all that I have to sell my amazing Juki, but it must be done.

Yesterday hubby came home early and we went car shopping for my new business, (Durham Dog Walking and Pet Services) and got THIS:

BAM!

BAM!

A 2003 Volvo V70 AWD with leather seats, sunroof and A/C, I LOVE it!! Renamed the “Durham Dog Waggin’”, this über safe vehicle will assist me as I shuttle my pet pals around town.

So while I’m building my new business, Juki will need to find a new loving home where he can be loved and appreciated. (Sorry, local pick-up only.)

Don’t forget that all affiliate proceeds from the sale of Michelle Patterns till the end of May will be donated to LotsaDogs Rescue!

A new adventure!

As some of you may know, I’ve been unemployed for about 10 months now. I’ve been unhappy and discouraged with being an “Administrative Assistant” for which there seems to be billions in the Toronto area, all vying for the same job.

Cookie and I, I'm the one with the glasses.

Cookie and I (I’m the one with the glasses).

Last weekend I put an ad on Kijiji offering my dog walking services. After all, I have two dogs of my own, I worked at a veterinary hospital for 6 years in various capacities and took an agressive dog course.

So yesterday, I registered my business name, got a license and a tax number! Durham Dog Walking and Pet Services is now legit!

Tonight we’re looking at various vehicles and the second I get my first customer, I’m purchasing insurance.

There’s a lot of advertising I have yet to do like flyers and business cards, I’ve set up a Facebook page and have started a blog.

Sadly, this means I won’t be sewing and blogging as much anymore. I will continue to participate in the Simply Solids Bee and there’s a super secret project I’m working on but I need to pound the pavement to be successful.

Thank you all for your continued support, please wish me luck in my new career!

xoxo Tabatha

I just received notice today that Michelle is retiring 21 patterns and we can get all for just $5.00!! If you’ve never made a bag before, Michelle Patterns is a great place to start. Her patterns are clearly laid out with lots of photos and clear instructions, I have TONS of her patterns!

Boyd St. Bowling Bag

When I first saw the Boyd St. Bowling Bag by Emmaline, I was in love! I selected a fun text print in a 7oz cotton duck in mandarin, turquoise, natural and grey for the exterior, a zig zag in mandarin (10oz cotton canvas) and twill in ocean.

Boyd St. Bowling Bag

This bag features a roomy main area, interior zipper and slip pockets lots of fun hardware and a pleated exterior. I chose to make fabric covered rope handles as well as a removable shoulder strap. It was my first attempt at making rope handles and although it was a struggle to turn the fabric, I really like the results and the handles feel nice in the hand. I wasn’t sure how to finish the handles but it worked and I will try it again.

The pattern is for the intermediate sewer and although I didn’t find it difficult, I wouldn’t recommend it for the beginner.

Julie's Bag

I’m also working on another Steph in the City bag for my sister. Almost finished, I need to make the belt, hide my threads and sew up the lining then I’m shipping it off next week!

A little “Happy Mochi Yum Yum” for lining always make me happy, I hope she likes it too!

Fabricland Sale

Attention all Canadians, Fabricland is going to have a birthday sale from April 15th to May 5th! We’re going to be picking up blackout curtains for our photo studio, maybe some white vinyl for photo backgrounds and perhaps some outdoor or home decor fabric and big chunky curtain grommets for swank bags. Sadly their cash registers are archaic and the lineups at both the cutting tables and cashes can be long but the savings will be awesome. I’m thinking of white denim with black trim and maybe some colour blocking. Oh, and I need a whole lot of interfacing!!!

My Emmaline bowling bag is almost finished, hopefully I’ll have something to show you this weekend, my hardware just arrived today!
