Bending Pins

Sorry, no photos with this post, I just wanted to check in because I feel like I’ve been in purgatory all day.

Despite the fact that I got out of bed at 7:30 this morning, I didn’t start cutting till after noon. I made breakfast and started laundry when M needed a bandage change. It was horrific, the bandage stuck to his finger and we had to soak it in surgical scrub to loosen it. I couldn’t look, despite the fact that I watched a number of surgeries when I worked in an animal hospital, a bad wound to a loved one makes me woozey. The pain was so bad we decided to attempt the emergency room at our local hospital. Upon paying $8.00 for an hours’ parking, we decided not to stay (no swelling or profuse bleeding) and instead hit a drug store for some serious wound care/pain supplies (which just happens to be next to Fabricland).

After returning home, I wrapped M’s finger and went to Fabricland for more embroidery thread. Despite the fact that it’s 100% cotton corduroy, I bent at least half of my pins just pinning the pattern to the fabric!! I screwed up and had to run back to Fabricland a second time for another meter of corduroy. After dinner I cut out the lining — it was close, almost had to purchase more of that as well! I cut out all of the major pieces from batting, I still have 3 or 4 small pieces to cut out but I’m fried.

So much work and I love it, but would have loved to have done some sewing today! I’m not sure if I’m going to attempt an hours’ sewing after work every day or just wait for the weekend. We leave for work at 6:00 in the morning and we’re not home till 5ish, that’s 11 hours away from home every day. I have 4 hours between getting home and going to bed at 9:00 p.m. wherein I have to squeeze in dinner and cleaning up afterwards. I’m staying up past my bed time tonight since I cut till 8:30 and just needed to sit down and relax!

Enough of my self-pitty, wish me luck with this coat, I hope it woks out!!
