I was so excited and surprised to discover I’d been a finalist in Crazy Old Ladies’ Block Contest and yesterday I found out that I’d come in third! I won a Hall of Fame 10 square fabric pack, can’t wait to play with it!

I managed to finish another hand stitched Granny Square block last night. Once again, the little squares finish up at 1″ and I used Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille for Moda.

Yesterday Amanda from All Kinds of Wonderful asked in the comments if I were really going to make a patchwork skirt and the answer is YES! I think with the right fabrics and the right length, it can be funky and fun. I may use 5″ granny squares from charm packs, all the block seams will have to be serged or pinked and maybe even top stitched to avoid ravelling in the wash. I have a few ideas floating around and warm weather is on it’s way so I’m going to live in these skirts for the entire summer which means I need to make a maxi as well.

Three more days till the weekend, W00t!

OMG, I’m a runner up!

I was perusing my Google reader this morning when I stumbled across my optical illusion quilt block as a runner up on Crazy Old Ladies Quilts , and not only that, my block is the first one shown!! If you have a moment, please visit and vote for me (but only if you like my block best)!!
