Fabulous Fabric

Have I used that title before? Ah well, it never gets old!

This is one of Tula Pink’s earlier works, Plume, released in the fall of 2009 before I started quilting and simply stunning, IMO. I won’t lie, it’s expensive if you can find it, typically on Etsy. And speaking of rare fabrics, I also purchased this rare set:

I can’t believe how soft this fabric is, it almost feels like voile! I think I’m going to make myself little zippy pouches and Michelle Patterns pouches with it, just for myself and perhaps as gifts for special bloggy friends. 😀

I finally broke down and got some Far Far Away III which I think I’m going to use with this cute tote pattern purchased from Pinked Fabrics on Etsy.

Also from Pinked Fabrics I bought more Happy Mochi Yum Yum and this adorable grossgrain ribbon.

I don’t think I’m all bagged out yet, there may be one or two left in me but they may have to wait till I get back from vacation, 11 more days if you’re counting along with me.

Denim & Ruby Bag

Thanks to everyone for your enthusiastic and positive comments on my Denim & Ruby Skirt Bag, I think this is the one I’m going to take to Germany with me but I’m going to add a magnetic snap. I’m also going to make another with an inset zipper at some point (don’t think I’ll have time this weekend).

Other naughty shopping items I’m waiting for are pearl snaps and Japanese linens (from China). Will keep you posted on shipping and quality when they arrive.

Have a great week, let’s hope it goes by quickly!

Pinked Fabrics

Pinked Fabrics is a shop on Etsy I discovered a few months ago which sells popular quilting fabrics, sweet twill tape and fabulous patterns. Amy bundles her fabric in fabulous little packages tied up with a pretty, reusable fabric ribbon, a hand written tag and innovative business card with pinked edges and of course, a piece of pinked fabric.

I’m very particular about my cuts of fabric, especially when purchasing a yard or less where an inch makes a big difference! Amy cuts each selection with care to ensure you get what you pay for.

Amy’s customer service is warm, friendly and fantastic, her communication is clear, concise and instant. Just message her and she’ll put together a bundle for you lickty split. Prices are on par and shipping is fast.

Amy also has a blog called “Lots of Pink Here” where she shares words and pictures of her projects, tutorials and family. And if that weren’t enough, she also has a shop called Any Dunn Designs for her hand made goods like this adorable sewing book, purses, zippy pouches, wallets and organizers. Click on the photo to see her perfect stitching!

This is not a paid advertisement, nor have I received any freebies. I have worked with Amy several times and feel she deserves a shout out for all her hard work and stellar customer service. Thank you Amy!

Bear Paw.v2 Update

Progress, finally but not without removing some stitching… Turns out that the corner pieces are too small as are the centre of the Bear Paws. I measured my half square triangles then cut the corner squares the same size, 1 & 1/2″ and they fit perfectly.

Although the paw centers are a smidge too small (1/8″), I stretched the fabric to make it work.

Today I’ll be working on my patchwork skirt, I think I’m going to use Ruby by Bonnie and Camille. I have a full yard of the Swoon print I purchased from Pinked Fabrics a little while ago as well as yardage of some other prints in the line. I can always mix in a little Vintage Modern as they all work together. I also bought some chevron twill tape in a few different colours which I’m going to use as the drawstring in my skirts and maybe a little embelishment, it’s too pretty to hide!

Happy holidays everyone, looking forward to many more long weekends!!

Vintage Modern

Yes, that’s a Granny Square block in progress, sewn by hand, 1″ squares finished. Have you been able to get your paws on Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille for Moda yet? Pinked Fabrics on Etsy has charm packs in stock and is getting yardage and more pre-cuts in May! I love this line, it has so many excellent prints and it’s feminine without being childish, great for babies, children or adults.

My wax flower plant is blooming, such a cool plant.
